The Lone-Star Waste Solution

When it comes to hazardous waste hauling, there aren’t a lot of marketing handbooks or guides out there to go through the nuts and bolts of the industry. Despite being one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, you’d be hard-pressed to find case studies or even other agencies talking about hazardous waste marketing strategies.

And that was especially true when we began working with HWH Environmental years ago.

So without a blueprint in front of us, our team just went back to the basics: understanding their audience, identifying pain points, and showcasing what makes HWH Environmental different.

And all of that hard work we did to better understand the hazardous waste hauling industry culminated in The Lone-Star Waste Solution project.

We took years of data from marketing qualified leads that have come into HWH Environmental to identify key locations where there was room for growth. Four areas stood out to us: Florida, Georgia, California, and Texas.

Each state provided pros and cons, but for this project we chose to focus our strategic efforts on Texas because of the type of leads coming in. Not only were they big projects, but they fit within a niche that HWH Environmental really excelled in.

Our strategy focused on three pillars: education, visibility, and conversions.

To educate, we would create detailed content specific to each vertical.

To increase visibility, we would create SEO-optimized landing pages and paid ads to appear when our targets searched for hazardous waste solutions.

And lastly, to convert, we would design landing pages to drive contact form submissions.

As most people know, when it comes to creating educational content, Google’s AI Overviews have made things more complicated than ever.

To combat this, we leaned heavily into the niche aspects of the construction and medical hazardous waste industries. These blog posts went into deep detail, highlighting common causes for fines, what waste needed to be professionally removed, and how to handle specific wastes they might encounter.

We then placed these guides on the landing pages and optimized them for organic traffic.

For our paid search strategy, we developed targeted Google Ads campaigns that complemented our organic efforts by creating separate ad groups for construction and medical facility audiences, using location-specific ad copy that highlighted HWH Environmental’s Texas presence and regulatory expertise.

The end result: 403 Texas-based marketing qualified leads to the site, a 256% increase from the year before. We’ve continued this strategy, expanding into the California, Florida, and Georgia markets as well.
